The New Normal

New Australian Grand Slam venue Cabarita has kick-started the 2020 WSL season

Let’s be honest: fantasy surfing sits pretty low on the hierarchy of things impacted by covid-19. Most of you probably haven’t even noticed our lack of articles or trading for the non-existent WSL events of this year. There’s been bigger fish to fry.

That said, we are on the cusp of finally being able to offer a modest distraction from the 2020 mire. And with competitive surfing emerging timidly from its hiatus in the form of the Tweed Coast Pro today, it’s probably time to start looking forward.

What’s New?

Firstly, we are proud to announce a new partnership with Surfing Life; an Australian surf media icon and one of the few print magazines remaining in this threadbare industry. It’s a link that we’re equally proud of and excited by. With it comes several changes, some of which are aesthetic, some organisational, but all of them designed to directly benefit you; the player.

We’ll keep our powder dry for now as far as specifics, but expect some great things with Surfing Life once the tour swings into action.

Another big change will be gameplay. It’s been so long that we’d nearly forgotten all of the off-season additions we’d made, including personalised stat selections and direct surfer comparisons when choosing a team. We’re always tweaking away at making things better, but these additions are already programed and good to go.

We’re also looking to make our game options more dynamic, with increased flexibility in adding extra or specialised events as the tour changes and adapts. Ideally we’d like to have trading open for one of the Australian Grand Slam events, but it will depend on how our testing goes for the Tweed Coast Pro.

So, What Now?

Watch this space.

Enjoy the Tweed Coast Pro, soak up the reemergence of professional surfing, and get ready to start tweaking those fantasy teams.

FSS is coming back, baby!
